Gloria Notes: This was my first time seeing REO Speedwagon and it was a great one. As a free fair show, for a band to do a full set and perform nearly 2 hours is quite impressive. One downside of this fair is how absolutely freezing and windy it can get when the sun goes down due to the fairgrounds being located on the beach. This night was no exception. I once again forgot my windscreens and the wind was brutal, but the wind noise I can hear that affected the mics is (thankfully) not that noticeable. Also, Amtrak made its evening stop in Ventura during Kevin's intro to "In My Dreams" and he makes reference to the audible train horn. And at the end of "Roll With The Changes," a group of children from a Westlake Village school came out on stage, so Kevin makes reference to that as well (three of the bandmembers reside in Ventura county, so this was a bit of a 'hometown' gig). There is a great deal of phasing due to the constant flow of people walking through the aisle I was on. I remained seated while everyone stood, so I know that negatively affected the sound on this recording. I also couldn't see anything, which is why the small amount of pictures I included are not very good. Most of the audience noise comes from a man behind me who talked to his friend, but I don't feel he is too annoying (he's loudest on "Tough Guys," "Take It On The Run," "Golden Country," "Like You Do," "Time For Me To Fly," "Back On The Road Again," the end of "Roll With The Changes" and "Gloria"). There is some other distant talking for a little bit in "Can't Fight This Feeling", "Son Of A Poor Man," "Like You Do" and "Time For Me To Fly" but it lasts for under a minute. There was also a woman with a loud scream, but she is mostly heard during the intro to "Golden Country," near the end of "That Ain't Love" and "In My Dreams." There's a bit of clapping along with "Back On The Road Again" and "Roll With The Changes." And there was another person in the row behind me, a bit over to the left, that started screaming between songs for "Ridin' The Storm Out." He started doing so after "Keep Pushin'" so he had a long wait. I didn't touch anything on this recording, so be sure to turn it up. And if burning to cd, the suggested split is between "Son Of A Poor Man" and "Like You Do."
